Bill Lunshof

Newmarket-based fine artist Bill Lunshof brings a deep love of nature, colour and creative exploration to both his artwork and his teaching. Working primarily in water-mixable oils, Bill is particularly fascinated by how light transforms a landscape, capturing everything from country gardens and meadows to old barns, homes, vehicles, and the changing Ontario countryside. He paints both in the studio and en plein air around Newmarket, and he also explores gouache, watercolour, and mixed-media processes. An active member of the local arts community, Bill is involved with both the Newmarket Group of Artists and the Society of York Region Artists.
At Best Art Co., Bill will share both his technical knowledge and his wonderfully inventive approach to art with adults and young artists.
His adult classes will include Water-Mixable Oils from start to finish, where students can learn the painting process from establishing a strong composition through colour and final details, as well as workshops in gel plate monoprinting, collage and mixed media.
Bill loves exploring what happens when traditional art-making meets experimentation, whether that means creating original printed papers, layering colour and texture, or transforming those materials into an entirely new piece of art.
Bill will also lead after-school and weekend workshops for kids designed to make learning about art engaging, collaborative and fun. Through painting, collage, printmaking and mixed-media projects, students will naturally explore concepts such as colour, texture, composition and visual storytelling while being encouraged to use their imaginations and make their work their own.
Bill’s combination of strong fine-art skills, curiosity and willingness to experiment makes his classes a place to learn the fundamentals without losing the playfulness and discovery that make creating art so much fun.
