Shape to Form: Drawing in 3D, Ages 10-12, Saturday November 14th
Turn simple shapes into drawings with depth! Students will discover how artists use light, value, and shadow to create the illusion of three-dimensional form on a flat surface. Beginning with circles and squares, they will use graphite pencil shading to transform these shapes into spheres and cubes.
Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, students will identify a light source and explore highlights, midtones, shadows, and cast shadows. They will experiment with pencil pressure and value changes while observing how light behaves across curved and flat surfaces. Each student will leave with a graphite study of three-dimensional forms showing light direction, shading, depth, and volume.
